Advancement

Credits

For each day that a player participates in roleplaying or combat, they receive 1 Credit. These Credits are used to purchase character Features. When a Credit is acquired, the player must declare which Feature that it is devoted to. Features include Talents and Perks; players cannot devote Credits to their Tribe or Focuses. The following sections detail the ways in which Credits can be devoted. Credit declarations are done at the end of the day based on what the characters did during that day.

Learning Talents

Talents are the primary advancement mechanism for a character's individual power. players devote Credits toward Talents and gain new effects once they advance that Talent to a new level. characters are presumed to have each Talent at level 0 until they acquire the first level. Single Credits can be devoted into a specific Tribal Talent that a player wants to train in. Their declaration is recorded and 1 Credit is devoted to that Talent. Tribal Talents max out at level 6, but can be freely trained as the player wishes.

Learning Non-Tribal Talents

Unlike Tribal Talents, which may be trained freely, in order devote Credits to a non-Tribal Talent, the character must have a teacher that is willing to train them. In order to teach a Talent, a character must have progressed in the appropriate Talent to one level beyond the level being taught. Teachers must declare that they are taking on a pupil and which Talent they are teaching for the day. Teachers may only have one pupil declared each day, and the pupil must devote that day’s credit to the Talent being taught. Teachers may devote their daily Credit to the Leadership Perk or to the Talent being taught. Non-Tribal Talents can never be trained above level 5.

Increasing Perks

Perks are almost entirely for roleplaying purposes. They almost never affect combat. In order to devote a Credit to a Perk, the player must have roleplayed in a scene that could relate to the Perk in some way. For instance, talking to an NPC for a lengthy period about your troubles may be enough to gain a new level in Allies. Working on increasing your company’s production could increase your Wealth. Teaching a pupil a new Talent is enough to devote Credits to Leadership, but taking part in political actions or debates would also count.
