characters

Each player must create a character before starting play. The player should come up with a personality, a background and personal characteristics for that character. During roleplaying scenes, the player will act according to this personality and these characteristics, and draw from the character's background. a character also has a list of features that grant the player certain benefits and effects in game.

character Traits

characters are defined by a series of traits that are chosen by the player. The following character traits are common to all characters:

Races

The Race that a character is part of determines which Tribes are available to them. In turn, determining which Talents and Abilities they will have access to. Currently, the only Races available are Human and Vampire. Humans do not have any special powers.

Tribes

a character's Tribe determines which Talents they have access to as well as which social group they are part of. The Tribes that are available to a character is determined by their Race.

Talents

Talents are a structured set of Abilities that a character has, that they can progress in over time. The Talents that are available to a character are determined by their Tribe.

Perks

Perks give a player specific benefits outside of combat, including help from friendly NPCs, extra money for buying equipment or social standing within the community. Perks are chosen by the player at character creation, but can be 'leveled-up' through roleplaying and devoting Credits. The following Perks are available:

Focuses

a Focus designates a physical or mental specialization that the character has. These help a character out during roleplaying scenes in which their physical or mental characteristics might influence the results of an Action. Each Focus gives the player a bonus when an Action corresponds to their Focus. There are 3 Core Focuses, and 6 Attribute Focuses that fall under a respective Core Focus. These are detailed in the following table:

Mind: Mental actions.Intelligence: Knowledge and problem solving.
Wisdom: Quick thinking and common sense
Body: Physical actions.Vitality: Physical strength and stamina.
Dexterity: Quickness and agility.
Spirit: Social and spiritual actions.Charisma: Leadership and likeability

Creating a character

The following is a step-by-step guide on creating your character:

Choose a Race

Currently, the only choices here to make are Vampire and Human. Human characters have no special abilities and are currently only included for roleplaying purposes. So, choose one or the other.

Vampire characters: All Vampires have unlimited use of the Blood Heal (1 BP) and Draw Blood (Trait) Abilities, and they are considered to have the Durability (Trait).

Choose a Tribe

Choose a Tribe from your Race's list of Tribes. Human characters currently do not have any Tribes. The prominent vampiric Tribes are:

Choose Starting Talents

The player chooses two Talents from their Tribe's list of Talents. Each of these two Talents begin at level 1, all other Talents are considered level 0.

Choose Perks

characters begin play with 2 levels of Perks of the player's choice. The following Perks are available:

Choose Core Focus

a character's Core Focus gives them an extra bonus when taking Actions that fall under that Focus (see Focuses above). Choose: Mind, Body, or Spirit.

Choose Attribute Focuses

Choose one Attribute Focus for each of the three Core Focuses. For Mind choose either Intelligence or Wisdom. For Body choose either Vitality or Dexterity. For Spirit choose either Charisma or Looks. In total, a character will have 3 Attribute Focuses.
