Weapon Rules
Melee Weapons
Melee weapons are weapons used to strike opponents in close combat. Melee weapons have a single rigid core running through them and are classified by their total length when measured along their longest measurement. Melee weapons can only score a hit form portions of the weapon that have sufficient padding for a legal strike.
Small
Small weapons are any melee weapons that are greater than 10" but less than or equal to 18" in length, when measured along their longest measurement.
Short
Short weapons are the base weapon class. This class includes all melee weapons that are greater that 18" but less than or equal to 36" in length, when measured along their longest measurement. Each player begins their character's life with 1 Short weapon, other weapons must be purchased or granted by an ability or through roleplaying.
Long
Long weapons are melee weapons that are longer than 36" but less than or equal to 48" in length, when measured along their longest measurement.
Great
Great weapons are melee weapons that are longer than 48" in length, when measured along their longest measurement. All Great weapons are considered Breaking. If they have a striking section at least 4" thick that runs a minimum of 18" from the tip of the weapon toward the handle, they are considered Crushing.
Flail
Flails are special melee weapons that have a length of rope or simulated chain that runs between the handle and an articulated striking head. These are designed to be more difficult to defend against and make it possible to bypass shields and weapons. A Flail must be 36" in length or less when fully extended and measured along its longest measurement.
Ranged Weapons
Ranged weapons are either projectiles themselves, or fire projectiles, and are meant to attack at ranges outside of melee combat.
Light Thrown
Light Thrown weapons are small coreless weapons, representing small throwing knives or shuriken. They measure between 2.5" and 6" in length. All thrown weapons will score a hit form any portion of the weapon when they strike a player.
Heavy Thrown
Heavy Thrown weapons are larger coreless weapons, representing throwing axes or similar sized thrown weapons. They measure between 9" and 18" in length. All thrown weapons will score a hit form any portion of the weapon when they strike a player.
Giant Thrown
Heavy Thrown weapons are huge coreless weapons, representing improvised thrown weapons such as large rocks, tables, barrels, etc. They are a minimum of 10" in each dimension. Giant Thrown weapons are Crushing. All thrown weapons will score a hit form any portion of the weapon when they strike a player.
Bow
A Bow is used to fire arrows. It can be either a regular bow up to 35lbs in draw weight, with a maximum of 28" of draw length, or a crossbow with no more than 450 inch-pounds. Bows must be half-drawn when used at a range of 20' or less, and if they are hit by any attack, they are destroyed.
Special Weapons
Special Weapons are weapons that do not fall into other categories, or are a hybrid of two different weapon types.
Javelin
Javelins are small throwing spears that can also be used in melee combat. They are considered a projectile while in flight, but a melee weapon when held. Javelins are between 36" and 72" in length. Javelins may only be used to stab in melee and only score a hit from the tip of the weapon when thrown.
Claw
Claws are special melee weapons that represent a player's claws or fangs, not a weapon. Claw weapons may not be used unless an Ability or effect allows it, or the player is playing a creature that naturally has claws. They are weilded like a melee weapon and their length depends on the Ability or effect that grants them. Small Claws are the size of a Small weapon, Short/Long/Great Claws are the size of Short/Long/Great weapons. They must also have some markings or indication that they are Claws, such as decorative claw marks. Claw weapons wielded by a supernatural creature are Enhanced.
